Brookies To The Rescue
Posted by greg on May 14, 2004
As I stood in the stream last night I thought about the 2 Salmon I had lost the day before in Solon, both large and fiesty. The first I just felt a crunching sound as I set the hook, knowing that he would spit it, and he did. The second I knew I had and he bent my rod down as far as is possible without breaking. I saw him roll on the surface and as I switched to put him on the real he ran, hard. The line did not slip through my scaly fingers and he broke off. This is a sport that you feel like a novice again at least once a day. I slumped home defeated once again by a fish that showed more common sense than I. I stopped at a stream and put on a soft hackle and started catching ...
Brookies. This is not the first time good old greedy little Brookies have got the smell of skunk off me. Bang! I was back up there with Lefty.
