Fresh Water Stripers In The Evening And Trout In The Morning: Maine Flyfishing

Watch The Video - Hi Speed - Lo Speed

Mark Ward, of Everglades Angler, wrapped up his trip to Maine by having a great day of flyfishing with Marshall Demott and Flyfishing Only. Flyfishing Only is Maine's premiere ORVIS Outfitter. Mark had a great day fishing for trout. He enjoyed learning about all of the Maine hatches and fishing for Rainbows and Browns using every tactic possible. We fished dries, cripples, wooly buggers and streamers. Mark seemed to get fish on every type of fly. Mark was most impressed with being able to catch so many species of fish in so little time. Striped Bass, Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass, Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout. All were caught in less than 24 hours. Mark's fish of the day was a nice rainbow trout. Marshall put him in perfect drifting position and

artfully instructed Mark how to drift his fly. Mark's fly made the swing and he picked up a nice Kennebec Rainbow Trout. We could not seem to convince Mark there were no Snook in the river. You can take a guide out of Florida but you can't take the Florida out of the guide. Marshall kept telling Mark that the trout were in the deeper runs and pools, but Mark instinctually kept casting to the imaginary Snooks. He couldn't help himself. Throwing long casts and dropping the fly 2 inches from shore. It did look good and for a second or two he even had me thinking that a Snook might take the hook.
