A friend and I called Quebec Sporting a week before leaving for the Gaspe and when we arrived everything was waiting for us in our room also arranged by Quebec Sporting. Our liscences, water sector permits, river maps of the 3 rivers we would be fishing and guide arrangements. No Hassle fishing. We fished the Dartmouth, York and St. Jean rivers. Every night upon returning to our room the permits for the waters we were going to fish the next day were on the table. This is the first time I have used guides,( great guys), but for 3 new bodies of water I thought it prudent. The Guides put us over fish every day. The day we went on our own the guide gave us directions on how to fish the pools and showed us how to get to our water. The water you fish is picked by drawing and Ann from Quebec Sporting dealt with that buisness. We only had to eat and fish. There is no law that says you need to

have a guide but on new water it's advisable. Quebec Sporting can meet your budget requirements and you have a great time. The water in those rivers are extremely clear and you can spot fish from quite a distance. The first day I landed a 15 lb. plus fish that just sent adrenaline through me. He jumped numerous times and fought hard. My guide Gary tailed him for me and I took some pictures. The day Gary was not with me I hooked a huge fish but lost him in the rock when I tried to pull him out of the rocks, don't bull a big fish, you'll loose. My friend Kenny had more fish rise to his fly and not take than I have ever seen. His fly would pass, the fish would rise to it and not take.Kenny did catch some nice trout though. To fish over fish every day, cast after cast is an exercise in learning the drifts and changing flies constantly is how you find the fly that brings one up. When he comes up the thrill of the take is unbelievable. More tomorrow.
