Paul-b And I met Chris-f from New Hampshire. Bright sunny day we head out on a custom float trip down the Kennebec River, I had my Scott duck canoe with a 3hp motor, and Chris used a Water Skeeter pontoon float. At Evergreen Campground there is a boat ramp and a shuttle service 7 miles of river to float and fish. ( Check them out www.evergreencampground.com) The river has great runs on both sides of the first island. Paul and I fished river right and Chris went river left behind the Island. Not long Paul and I could see fish feeding on something. We drifter thru the pool beached the canoe and waded back to the top. Fish everywhere but Paul and I could not fool them. After 2and a half hours I finally picked up a 12” brookie and lost a nice salmon. Hot mid day sun we started to drift some more and catch Chris. 2 miles and we float thru a deep fast pool. Again we beached the canoe and fished this deep run. (No Chris) This part of the river looks like something you would see out west . Great nymph water. I could see the water was really deep so I put together a long leader with big flies. 1- black bead head bugger 2- lg black stone fly and a 16 bead prince also 2 bb split shot above the bugger. This type of rig is hard to cast but the fish are only 10’+/- away. Paul is rigging up and on my second cast FISH ON nice brown.. Paul does some net and camera work and we are

on the board. I can’t say enough about this run 300 yards long back eddy cold you name it it’s here. Less than 5 minutes BOOM and UP he comes a beauty male salmon jumping like a fresh Atlantic. I picked up several fish in this pool but the 1 10 minutes was unbelievable. We fished this pool for 2 hours and started to wonder about Chris. Paul and I thought he must be below us. We floated down and still no Chris. In this 7 mile stretch of water you could fish for days and not cover all the pools. Finally around the last bend I see the Blue Water Skeeter. Chris !! We talked about river left and all the area he fished. He did say something about a monster brown but I’ll let him tell that story. What a great day on the river, every one should hit this section there is room for all of us. See ya in Solon Joe-m

Nice fish - and nice photo work Paul. Boy those are some healthy fish and pretty too! Look at the spots on both fish - so cool! The Salmon has those big well defined Black dots and the Brown has that rich gold color with nice dots too. Nice job guys!
