Maine Brook Trout Video Hi-Speed Only

It is days like today that I love being from Maine. Marshall, Joey and I spent the evening fly fishing for absolutely beautiful Brook Trout. The colors on the fish were astounding and the crystal clear water enhanced the photography potentials. We caught an unbelievable amount of fish on all sorts of patterns (black woolies, copper johns, black ghosts...) The Brookies were aggressively chasing down anything that came within their space. Marshall and I worked together to carefully photograph several fish under these perfect conditions and the results are visible in the accompanying video. The fish were in all sorts of runs and they were on the move. Joey showed up and tied on a black wooly bugger, he had a few strikes but he quickly went to the Macomber set-up. Double nymph rig - emerger with copper john trailer. Oh yeah, I have seen joe-m pull it out on several rivers and it always does the trick. I was praying that Joey got some fish after falling into the Kennebec the other night. Joey dialed right into the fish and got found his groove. He hooked into several nice Brook Trout as I chased a Large Salmon in a back eddy with a big Black Ghost. The water was crystal clear and I saw the Salmon come up from the bottom and attack my fly. He was moving so fast and just kinda bumped it out of agression. I never got the Salmon to take, but I know where he lives. Marshall had

success on streamer and nymph patterns as well. Orange was his color of choice for the Salmon. It was just a great fall evening of Maine fly fishing. The air was cool, the water was 58 degrees and the skies were a bit cloudy. We found the fish in the deep pools, the shallow riffles and everything in between. I was sightfishing to several fish and most times saw the fish take my flies. Just a great fall day, fishing for Maine's trademark fish. period.
