Fresh Water Nothing Like A Windy Afternoon

With the weather closing in and snow knocking on our door I have been trying my hardest to squeeze a few casts in whenever possible. So today I finished work a bit early and made a run 20 min west to try my luck. With the wind blowing my car nearly off the road I figured it would be difficult to make a cast but to my suprise is was fairly calm at my favorite nymph hole. I tied on a 18"prince followed by a 18"copper john (i love Mr. john). After a few casts I could see big brookies moving in the pool but no takers. I made a cast off a bank into some quick water and bang.. Fish on. I landed a small but lively salmon. After a sucessful release I made the same cast and wham! Mr. John stiked again. I landed a nice brown then gave another cast in the same direction. Believe it or not...WHAM! this time a nice salmon swallowed mr. john I got the net under him and he gave one last leap of faith spiting the hook and sending me flat on my back in the 48 degree water. Despite being freezing I had a grin ear to ear. I couldn''t believe the luck I was having. I tried a few more casts and moved down stream looking for that big brown headrush999 landed last

weekend. I tied on a big green, orange and white streamer and tossed it out. First cast no Brown but a nice brook trout to end my afternoon. I guess the wind blew some luck in my direction- I''ll take all that I can get.
