Fresh Water Trout: A Humbling Evening In Maine

Well, after a few nights of outrageously successful striper fishing I was humbled by the Cobossee Stream Trout. There they were, like they always are, feeding right in front of me. Toying with me as always. Rising upstream and downstream, but not touching my dry fly. I know you know the deal. There I was trying every fly in my box, but I could not get a trout to take anything I was offering. Then I rolled out a long cast and my fly dropped onto the perfect seam of water. I almost knew I was going to get one. WHAM, a massive hit. There I was, in my glory. Yup, I was the man until I saw the big black stripe along the greenish body. A big fat bass. Yuk. On the other hand, I met Carl Cote. A great flyfisherman and a quality guy. He got the fish we were all hoping to get. A beautiful, healthy and big brown trout. Nice fish Carl.
