Fresh Water My Favorite Fish Ever: Wyoming Style!

This was the most perfect day I have ever had on the river. Both my grandpa's were visting at our house in Wyoming. One from Alaska and the other from New Mexico. They are the one's that are probably responsible for my fly fishing passion. I know that I won't always have them here to fly fish with, so this was already a great day. Once again we were in our mahogany skiff drift boat floating my favorite, Secrest to Bessemer section. We were all rigged with a hot head leach as our point fly and our choice of bottom flies. We were catching fish non stop. It came to the point where we started making it a game. When you caught 2 fish you had to row, and if you snagged one you had to row till everyone caught 4 fish and so on. It was a blast. It was a beautiful September day with a small amount of snow on the ground and clear Wyoming skies. But we were catching fish like never before. It was my turn to fish, so I made a short cast to a small but deep run on the edge of a bank. My strike indicator plummeted and I went the other way to set the hook. At first I wasn't sure if I was snagged or had a fish, but then it began to move. Meanwhile my grandpa's were giving me words of wisdom. We really didn't relize the magnitude of what we were dealing with. The monster hen never came up, she just swam away on the bottom with long fast runs. About half an hour into the fight they started to tease me that it was a Carp, and I almost bought in. But, then she came up towards the surface where we got our first look at her. "Oh my God," They said. Thats the biggest Brown I have seen. Well a few more minutes of fighting and we had her netted. "Yes!" I dont think I have ever been more excited and I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to have been there except for my Gradpa's. This is the biggest Brown Trout I have caught and ever will catch. And Jason this is

what we will be catching when we go!

sweetness!! Thats a big brown! Nice job. Here in Maine their are some big browns in the presumscott, never landed any of them though. Their kind of spooky cause the havn't stocked fish 30 +'' in a while(no fish that big in the stocking reports this year). Once again nice fish! Austin

great "fish tale" Kray. as the years pass, what you will probably remember most about that day is the bottom portion of the picture rather than the top. - thanks for sharing.
