Winter Rainbows And Browns Hi Speed Only

What A Day! I fly fished with Caleb today (aka Fish_King_7). We had a blast. Yeah, it was cold, but neither of us cared. We drifted our flies through countless runs that were in perfect shape, and the trout loved what we were drifting. We found that our most productive nymph rig was an indicator, 9 feet of leader, very little or no weight, big flash back trailed by a smaller copper john. Caleb roll casted upstream and within minutes of getting to the river caught his first Rainbow Trout. We moved around a lot and in the next run we fished, Caleb got the perfect drift through a slower moving tail out. BANG! A Big Sea Run Brown took his fly! Fish on, Fish off! He spit the hook and Caleb and I both saw the fish flash below the surface and we knew it was a good one. Then we worked our way through the pocket water. Caleb had a few hits and I had a nice Rainbow on and then he was gone. We crossed the river and found the perfect hole. The Tide had come in since we had started fishing so the hole deepened up. We added a single split shot and fished the head of the run. BANG! As soon as my flies dropped over the shelf, I had a nice Rainbow Trout. He took line and ran downstream. Caleb did a great job netting the fish in some fast moving water. The colors on these rainbows were amazing. We hooked plenty of fish and the day flew by. It was great fly fishing with Caleb. He is a great fly fisherman and and unbelievable fly tier. You should see

his box of flies. Very impressive. So, all in all it was a great day on the river. Lot's of laughs, lots of fish, lots of lost flies and some of the most beautifully colored Rainbows I have ever caught.
