Fresh Water A Dedication To My Mom And Dad: Pursuing A Fly Fishing Dream

I would like to dedicate this story to my parents. Without them nothing I love would be. And I mean what parents are cooler than the ones that will go fishing with you when its 0 degrees out or when its just a beautiful day to be on the river. My dad has always been a fly fisherman, but since I have developed my passion of fly fishing it has brought my dad into it more. My dad has several fiberglass fly rods that he made when he was younger and has always fished with them. Well last year for his birthday we decided it was time to introduce him to

graphite. He hasnt used his fiberglass rods since. He does not like fishing the larger rivers and catching big fish, but would much rather be on a mountain spring creek catching small brookies. Thats the first type of fly fishing I was introduced to. Now though he will go to the river with me whenever he can and that truly is special. Here is my dad with a nice rainbow caught out of our mohagany drift boat on the gray reef section. My mom, oh boy my mom. My mom has never really had an interest in fly fishing, she has always been a horse person, but this summer while my dad was dall sheap hunting in AK I decided it was time she learned to fly fish. OH man I have never seen some one get more excited when she catches a fish. At first it was a chalenge to get her not to set the hook to hard and what way to reel, and what a drag was. But she caught on fast and has become a great fishing buddy. Here she is with her first fish caught on her new rod we got her for her birthday this year. So I owe a lot to my mom and dad they have helped me pursuit my dream in life and have had fun on the way, thanks mom and dad!

kray,

it's obvious to me and probably everyone else who reads your "fish tales" that your passion for flyfishing taps right into the soul of flyfishing. any writer can go to school and learn how to write big words and craft eloquent sentences that describe the technical and finer points of things. however, you can not write the things you write if you don't mean it. you can't be taught soul. a person either has it or they don't. you got it. never lose it. it's the only thing that can not be bought and it's worth all the money in the world.

- great "fish tale"
