Fresh Water Utah’s Finest: Dry Fly Bows And Browns At The LC Ranch

Dry Fly Bows & Browns Hi Speed Only

Last week I had the opportunity to hook up with several guides from the Trout Bum 2 in Park City, UT and fish the LC Ranch. I normally do not like to give away secrets but this place is private and if you want to go you have to hire a guide and make a reservation. I have to say that the idea of lake fishing does not always excite me. It usually means bobbing up and down in a float tube for endless hours trolling streamers. However, this is not how it was at the LC Ranch. Dozens of lakes and ponds pepper the 2,000 acre private ranch. Rainbows and Steelhead stocked as fingerlings and a few naturally reproducing Browns feed voraciously this time of year. Most fish were easily cast to from shore. We happened to hit it on the first sunny warm day in eight month. The fish could not eat fast enough. Chronomids, Midges and Callibaetis were all on the menu. It reminded me of salt water flats fishing, stalking giant fish in

crystal clear water. The bottoms of these lakes were reef like with green algae flats giving way to light sandy shoals. And the fish all fought as hard as any I have ever caught. There is nothing better than sticking dozens of 20 inch plus fish on dry flies all day long. Simply writing about it does not do this place justice. By the way be sure to check the bonus footage at the endof the video. Easily one of the funniest things I have seen on the river!

Hard to believe that fish was still on there, one of the best things I've ever seen, just had to comment on it.

Wonderful footage Jason. Glad to see you guys had a great time. The out take was awesome. Give me a holler when you get back from Mexico. I'd like to have you out for the drake hatch on the Delaware.
