Fresh Water Maine Brook Trout: They're Not Ugly

The days of flyfishing that you look back on are always the best. Whether you caught fish or no fish, every person has a different opinion on the days he had on the water. Today was one of the days I will look back on. I had a good time. Jeremy and I made our way to a Maine river in hope of some Brookies or Browns. The air was chilly and the water was cold enough to drive both of us on to the top of a river rocks as fast as we got in it. Some fish were rising here and there, the tide was coming in and so were the trout. We were both swinging the “go to” wooly bugger without any hits. We tried Prince nymphs too, but the results were the same. I took the liberty to dig out a nice looking streamer pattern. We both got out of the water and onto the bank. I stand next to Jeremy. He was looking through the water with polarized glasses and could see a nice Brown Trout cruising towards my fly. "He's on it! Now he's gone," my heart dropped. "There he is!" Jeremy yelled. The Brown Trout downright attacked my streamer fly. I was all smiles. The fish was hooked, he dug a little and soon enough I was holding my fish. The skunk was off the boat, and it felt good to catch a fish again. We took a ride to a little run that we know

about. Jeremy twitched his wooly bugger and a nice Brook Trout grabbed it. We snapped a few photos and off he went. It was my turn. Twitch, twitch, BAM! A nice Brookie shows off his fire orange belly and we were thrilled. All these fish were just too pretty. We tried to capture some nice images with the camera. Jeremy finished the day by catching a pretty Brown Trout. It all made for a great day spent on the water. Jeremy, thanks again for a great time.
