I don't even know where to start. We rustled out of bed at 4 am and were out the door headed for another try at the steelhead. We arrived just as the sky began to lighten. I was psyched, but with a definite sense of nervousness. After a few fruitless drifts at what looked like good water I cast upstream still hoping to see what all the hype was about. I soon found out that it was not just hype at all as the rod doubled over and the line began to peel off the reel. This was obviously not normal trout fishing. Within a matter of only a few seconds, I had tons of line out, no fish, and I'm sure a rather stunned look on my face. Just finding and hooking the fish was no where near enough. I had to figure out where and how to land these beasts too. After a few more failed attempts, I finally hooked and landed my first steelhead ever. Little did I know, there would be much more of this to come. These steelhead are surprisingly temperamental though. The drift must be exactly the way they want to see it or nothing. Not the right length leader or tippet, nothing. We changed setups throughout the day. Dial into the fish for a bit and then change it up. We caught steelhead all day long on all different egg pattern colors. Pink, orange, chartreuse and white. It goes without saying that this was the best fly fishing day of my life and one of the best experiences ever! The only thing better than today might be tomorrow because

we finally found them, we know where they will be tomorrow and there are some more monsters in there. Believe it or not, a few bigger than these!

Zac, you might as well put in your two week notice and look into moving up here to the "rust belt". I believe that Jeremy has just ruined your life. This will be one hell of a monkey to get off your back. It took me a long time to bring a fish of that caliber to hand. Congrats Man. High water, 40 mph winds, lake effect snow bands. You guys earned those metal heads for sure.
