Salt Water Naples, Florida: Four Species Estuary Slam

Clam Pass is located near Seagate Drive in North Naples, Florida. I walked in from the parking lot along a 1/4 mile boardwalk through the mangroves to the beach at 6 AM, finally having a morning to fish after working 3 days on my new winter home. The sun was just rising when I hit the beach, and I headed for the outlet chop of the pass. The outgoing tide was in full surge. Just below the chop at the outlet, I let a Clouser swing deep off the clear intermediate sinking line. WHAM! A 17-inch Spanish Mackerel hit it hard! Afew casts later

a Pompano struck. Then a Spotted Sea Trout! Finally, as the tide slacked, a school of Ladyfish arrived and I played with four of them, ranging to 20-inches. Later on, I fished in the backwaters of this spectacular pass as the tide brought in more hungry Sea Trout. The locals say the fishing is good in November. I'll be back!

nice article marsh. i love flyfishing down there. its cool how you caught so many different species of fish. glad to see you got into some. are you back in maine now? are you fishing this week? nasty weather - but the fish are out there. Let me know - maybe you, greg and me can try a few of our Maine spots. If you guys want you can come down here. I know where some browns are feeding on top and its they are not Sea Runs. Its a nice little creek that runs into a pond and the fish are there. let me know.
