I found one for $125 from a local guy. Its never been used. Are these good rods? Is it worth the money to try it out or should I save up some more money for a rod with a warranty?

Try wiggins pass. I always catch fish there. Its a little crowded for fly fishing up front but if you walk throught the water you can reach a clam bed thats good for trout
