Kray-I can't wait to read your article. Where are you going in AK? How big are the rivers you will be fishing? Every consider a Spey rod?
Check this out.

I will be fishing in the southern central part of Alaska around Wasilla and Palmer. The rivers I will be fishing is the probably the Deshka and Little Susitna. And no I never have considered a spey, I dont think it would be real easy to use in these rivers, there not very big and have heavy banks.

I have only fished for Steelhead in Alaska. The Kings get huge up there. I would think you would need 8-10 wt depending on how big the rivers are. However, I am not the best person to ask. As far as sink tips go, I would not buy anything other than interchangable tips systems. They are more expensive but worth it. When are you going?

Jason, I will be going as soon as school is out in June. Thats a great idea with the interchangeable tip lines and I will get one. If I win that rod I think I might get a Ross or a Lamson for it, what do you like? I really like being part of this group and when you come down and we float you need to plan on going for two days, because there are two different sections I want to take you down and Im being serious I really want to take you out!!! Make sure you bring a video camera because we will be catching lots of fish and big fish. What dates are you looking at and who else will be coming? Maybe some day I could come up and go stealheading with you.
