I recently switched to this pack by fish pond and i love it
http://www.fishpondusa.com/doubleHaul.cfm
actually - i like many of of their products because of their creative and intuitive design and quality - i notice that joey uses one too - actually i kind of copied hime because his looked cool - so after a few months of using it - i love it - especially the fact that i can detach the front part when i am saltwater fishing or just go with the front pouch when trout fishing - i learned the hardway that having any obstructions in front of me is NOT good when albie fishing - so i like the fact that i can just wear the back pack when i need to. anybody else have any feedback on their products - i notice that they are moving into different markets and not just focusing on packs - they have all kind of gadgets and i am sure it won't be long before they move out of the gadget and pack market and into the reel - rod market..
SO - joey - how does yours hold up? after 6 full days of trout fishing with it in colorado - what kind of score do you give it and how does it compare to others you have used. |

here is a funny side bar - there is some lucky dude out there who bought the domain name fishpond.com before it the Fish Pond fly fishing company became a substantial player - clearly he has something that other people want - gotta wonder how much they are willing to pay
http://www.fishpond.com/
- clearly the right price has not been offered - or this guy is waiting and playing a little poker.
So - the Fish Pond Fly fishing company had to settle for
http://www.fishpondusa.com/
------ funny how 3 little letters, or lack of them, can make such a difference. |

I love my Fish pond pack. Light and very versitile. all the pockets are accessible with a wide range of size. The drop down fly benchs are "KEY" it gives you a place to put your flies when changing your set up. I have worn mine all summer and it is very durable. I highly reccomend one to anyone that is in the market for a new vest/pack. It helps us unorganized stay organized. |

| i bought their waterdance lumbar/chest pack 8 months ago, and love it. it works well for both fresh and salt, holds a ton of gear, and 2 mountaindews. my only gripe was the shoulder strap, which i replaced with a more padded one from an orvis duffel bag. |

I purchased this one in the spring and used it all season: http://www.fishpondusa.com/openRange.cfm
Great product! Double fly benches are fantastic. I mainly purchased it for its built in back pocket storage. 2-3 days a year I fish portions of the CT river with three of my buddies. One year we got into some UNREAL fishing. Our plan had been to head back to the truck for lunch, but none of us wanted to stop fishing. We literally fished from 7:00am to 4:00pm without stopping. The longer we fished, the better it got (more/bigger fish by the hour).
I gotta say though, it hurt! My back was sore and we were all starving. We crawled back to the car and inhaled anything that was remotely edible.
From that point on, we have packed and carried in lunch and snacks. This vest carries it all nicely. More importantly, it keeps all my flies and supporting bits/pieces stored in a very accessible way.
The vest is fairly unconventional in looks. I get stares from time to time. I'm a function over fashion guy though. I've seen other fish pond gear and I like the quality. I hope these guys stick around for long time while. |
