that is what i love about this site -- you just never know who might pop up where. i am constantly amazed by the stories people submit from all sorts of crazy locations...

i much prefer the surprise after the trip rather than the surprise before...meaning - it is kinda fun to go fly fishing whether in your neighboring town or on a different continent and post the story after the trip as opposed to letting everyone know before hand. again, just one more instance of the ways that the internet continues to keep things interesting....

so the title of this post should read "where in the world will YOU be next"....again keep in mind that your home waters are in fact a far away destination to most people on this site....so next time you take a few casts in your local spots in maine, utah, nh, vermont, russia, germany, france, netherlands, alaska, florida, wyoming, massachusetts, ny, rhode island, canada etc...... remember that to most viewers of this site - the spots that are just around the corner for you...may be thousands of miles away from where the reader lives. so the key is to not get complacent with what is available to you...because to someone else....what is old hat to you .... is a totally new experience.

i hope to visit many far from home and close to home new spots throughout my lifetime. so...you are right shaq..you just never know where i will pop up next...and .....neither do i.

where in the world is jeremy....?

right now - i am getting yelled at by my wife to go out and finish shoveling the driveway and to get off the computer! man - a harsh return to reality - no palm trees and sight casting here - just snow and ice and more snow and ice.... i would post a pic/story/video - man the thrill of of lobbing that snow onto the bank is just like hooking into a big snook...yah right:)

Greg, I grew up in Andover and learned to flyfish in Lowell. You just brought some flash-backs of hopping rocks under u-lowell, fishting smallies down by the sub-shop between the islands and catching carp on the beach by the ballfield. NICE!!!

right on shaq!!! i hear ya -- i went to college in boston --- so many of evening i snuck down to the charles river and fly fished for carp and whatever else i could pull out of there --- i can't remember perfectly but i think i recall carp, bass, perch and stuff like that...it was fast action though and a certain way to pick up chics.....they would come over and be like..."oh, that fly fishing looks so beautiful and peaceful...blah blah blah." so even though i was fly fishing down on the charles - i was not necessarily fly fishing for fish.

also - i used to do very well - actually extremely well in boston harbor - i had all sorts of spots dialed in for the stripers and blue fish...castle island in southie was one of them --- it was like a guarantee on an outgoing tide and my and my buds used to get some nice stripers - also we would venture to nahant, lynn and all those areas. see - whether its the great lakes or the ocean or tidal river or whatever ---- FISH DON"T know the difference - so boston harbor to them is exactly the same as casco bay - only the people see the pretty houses and stuff like that --- the same can be said for steelhead - I love the Oswego river -- it makes its way through all sorts of industry and city life - but the fish don't care and come on - it is less than 1/2 mile from the lake to the dam. i have had some of my best steelhead hookups on the oswego - i could personally care less about the asthetics - i am not there for the pretty scenery and all that stuff - i got plenty of that here in maine - i am there for STEEL and to be honest it adds a nice dynamic to my steelhead trips - i can go hit the tribs or stretches of the SR or go way out west or to other lakes for that matter and find all the solitude and pretty scenery i want --- then when i get bored with that - i venture into the CITY and the oswego is certainly one of my cherished stomping grounds... there is a certain amount of pleasure i get from fly fishing for steel amongst hustle and bustle of the city - breaks things up a bit and more importantly the Steelies can be very plentiful there at certain times of year.
