An interested thing has happened to me as of late, that I am beginning to enjoy and the most recent fish tale by AvidDavid made me realize why.

Most of us have the "real world" obligations to deal with. Like it or not. Sure we would love to fly fish all over the world and live only for our next cast. But lets face it, the real world and out commitments to our family and other things often makes that not possible. Some of us have different degrees to which they can excercise their free will with reckless abondment, but that is a seperate argument for another day. And, the ability to or not to do that is a result of personal decisions we have made along the way.

My point is this. All of us at one point or another have things present themselves in our lives that make our desire to fly fish difficult if not impossible ex... someone dies, someone is born, you get hired, you get fired, you go to college, you graduate from college.... the nature of the obstacles are irrelevant...and these are just a couple examples of obstacles that make it tough for any fly fisherman to excercise his passion for the fly.

HERE IS THE SIMPLE SOLUTION: Last night I call from headrush down in Florida and unleash a whole slew of personal problems on him....he basically responds as such..."Uh, that sucks dude...but I got to run cuz Joey and I are meeting up at 5am tomorrow (TODAY) to go way out into the backcountry fly fishing for Tarpon, Snook and Redfish." Then a familiar feeling arose in my bones... Sure I felt a little bit of envy and was a tad jealous, but another feeling overpowered any of those. I actually felt as though I was gonna be part of the trip. I know that today, I am chained to a computer and phone all day for business reasons - however, I also know that headrush and joey are not...and their adventure today will be my virtual fly fishing trip. Because, I am already wondering how they are doing, where they are and if they will catch fish....and... I also know that the day will come to an end and they will have some nice digital fish porn to share with me....

Anyway.. I do gotta get to work for now... but I will be back and forth throughout the day - to see how my virtual fly fishing trip is going.... Good Luck out there Joey and Headrush... - So see, depending how you look at it, you actually can fish 365 days per year... and in AvidDavid's case you can even fly fish in the CAR.

the proper trout bum term for trust fund kid would be...a "trustafarian".... but - i know you - and your character would not be half of what it is now, if you were infact a "trustafarian"..... you are who you are and have the commendable character you have as a result of being kicked in the teeth by the real world - and paying your do's in "the machine." kinda like - ya can't sing the blues if you haven't had your heart stomped on, dreams crushed and felt the pain of just waking up every day.

i'd much rather spend my time on and off the river with a "blues fly fisherman" like yourself - rather than with the "trustafarians" of the world.......

FliesandFins has made it possible for all of us to enjoy the virtual fishing experience, but I am with Dave let me be a trustafarians just for a little while anyway. Wouldn't it be nice to live in a "never never land" of fishing. I know deep down my work ethic and drive to succeed would not allow me to freeload forever, but I sure wouldn't mind trying it just long enough to get tired of it.
