marcel you out there? ... i saw in the chat that "hells-angler" is from germany and then i thought .. "where the heck has marcel been?" ...hope all is ok .. and your off fly fishing .. and not working to hard or something like that .... give us a shout .. let us know how you, joop and the others are doing ...

ps . ... all of you guys should come steelheading this winter/spring .. as i have said for a few years now .. you guys would always be welcome .. i got plenty of people who would show you and your buddies some nice steelhead drifts and hook you up for a couple days of killer fly fishing ... would be awesome to have the german crew on the salmon river in NY ... think about it ... ... if not this year .. than definately next .. up to you... hope all is well.

hey!

just to say hello to all here.

my name is jan, 31 years old,flyfisher,and working as a gardener.

i found this site during im seaching for videos (fish-porns:-)in the net.

im very interessdet in steelheads and stripers in the us.im thing this site
could give my some ideas and tips for trip in the sping 07.

here in germany i fish mostly for searunning brown in the baltic sea,
small rivers for grayling and brownies.

otherwise here and there......,russia,new zealand,island,argentina,norway and denmark .........

do you know marcel??? he fishes the baltic see too ... i have seen some of those pics and read some of his adventures on the baltic sea fishing for seabass and rainbows on the fly (i think) .. that looks hard core ... tell you what, if you do that .. steelheading in the great lakes will be like a day in the sun Very Happy

... well not really ... but very similar environments .. so you will fit right in ...

here is my advice ... if you like steelhead/trout fishing and you want to do it in the usa for cheap (relatively)

fly from germany, amsterdam or wherever to JFK in ny .. then ... from JFK you would want to get to Syracuse, NY .. you could do it by airplane all the way .. but if money is tight .. than maybe airplane from europe to JFK .. and then train or bus to Syracuse ...

Syracuse is not far from Pulaski, NY (home of the salmon river) ... 13 miles of river ... Huge brown trout, king salmon (in the fall sept/oct) and Steelhead (oct/nov/dec/jan/feb/march/april) ... if you like trout .. you will love steelhead ... basically big trout 5-20 pounds in rivers and even little creeks .. fish for them the same way you fish for trout .. use 7,8 or 9 weights .. floating line ..

so - that is what i would recommend for a trip...

lodging is very cheap in or around pulaski ... anywhere from $30 per night to $90 per night....

rental car = cheap - rent the car in syracuse.

fishing license = $20 or so for a week ..

---- that is basically what i would recommend .. if you are a trout fisherman over in europe .. you would love the steelhead opportunities in the great lakes (lake ontario) in the usa .. and it is basically a straight shot in terms of travel ... just cross the big pond .. get to syracuse .. and you will be fly fishing for some amazing fish in no time...

stripers .....

get off the airplane in new york at JFK and start casting off the runway .. you will catch stripers...especially in the spring ....

from there head up the northeast coast ... and fish new york, connecticut, rhode island, mass, nh and maine .... the spring is very good ... and june is especially good in all those states .... not hard really ... find the ocean .. you will find stripers.... of course, i can give you more detail than that .. but at that time of year ... its basically true...

fishing the baltic for seerunners is a hard job....thats right.
like some of your stipervideos we standing in the waves,3 degrees celsius,run in your wader,even a take for the day.....thats close to normal.
but i like it:-)

what to you thing is the best time come in spring,maybe a combination for stripers and jump around between some river?

.....steeelhead i fished for steelhead in argentina.santa cruz river.maybe the only atlantic river that holds steelhead.the average is not that bis as in the pacific,but it was fun!

I have been a bit silent lately since I have bought a house... build in 1928.
Since the place was rented out first it is more or less in a sorry state so I
am busy with remodelling. As usual with such projects you encounter lots
of "surprises" so fishingtime is scarce at this moment.

My Florida trip is subsequenly cancelled this year since I figured I might
be exceeding my remodelling budget on this adventure.
But all is not lost, Denmark in September is still going through as planned.
We will do river fishing for trout and grayling and off course we will go after seerun browns aka seatrout in the Baltic sea.

Hells-Angler... yep, from what I know he is a buddy of Ian aka Master of Disaster also from Germany.
I think I have seen some posts of the Hells-Angler on some German forums but Ian seems to have turned into some kind of artist.

hey naples florida is expensive ... pulaski, ny is not! ... plan a trip for this fall ... with you and a few friends ... get your airfare .. and from there i will help you guys to keep it cheap ... way cheap ...

i was talking with some friends .. and we all agree .. that we have watched you guys fish in europe for so many years now .. and you have watched us fish in the usa ... we all love trout .. and you would LOVE steelhead ... so, we would happily help you out in terms of transportation and lodging .. where we could and obviously you would fish with us ..

WOULD BE AWESOME!!!!! even if 3-5 days of fishing ... we would take care of you ... and it would be awesome for us .. to hopeuflly get you guys into some HUGE brown trout HUGE steelhead and if you come in sept/oct.. HUGE king salmon ...

make it happen .... book your flights to New York City or Syracuse .. whatever is cheaper .. and I will help you out from there ... it would be sooo much fun .. and after years of watching how dedicated you guys are over their in europe and how hard core you guys are (going to the baltic sea in winter) ... i would love to see the sheer awe on your faces when we show you some of the amazing steelhead/brown trout/salmon fishing in the great lakes regions ..... would be my pleasure .....

look into it ... if you can get to usa cheap ... i can possibly use some of my contacts in the fishing world .. to keep things super cheap, if not free for you when you get here ........ would be my honor.

Thanks for the offer, the other guys have said to me they wanted a "far away trip" next year so I told them we should go to the US.
When I see them I will tell them where we have to go, Maine or NY or Colorado or whatever.

Naples is indeed expensive, it is a fancy place and thus prices are accordingly. My only interest is the fishing there and lodging for me has to be cheap and without pets (insects).
The trip to Naples last fall was a bit disappointing due to the red-tide mess and being in the middle of a Hurricane.
On the plus side Diamond Dave, Marshall and Mark from EA helped me out a lot.

but marcel i think,...... we meet us for a couple of years at a flyshow in the netherlands,
and a couple of weeks later in ostvoorne?

so right now im stitting here check flights to JFK,rental cars and so on.......
i think for me best time to come is march.

I am not sure I have met you in person although I have
been on occasions to lake Oostvoorne.
I have frequented the RFF forum though.

Good luck on your spring trip, I am sure there are plenty
of people around here who can help you out once you
are there.
Maybe March is a bit early if you want to fish the coast for
Stripers and Bluefish depending on the location.
