So, all I know now is the the single spey, double spey, circle spey and snake roll ... i can certainly see applications for all of these ... what other spey casts do other spey casters recommend learning?

ps .. one more question .. i understand the switch cast and the single spey cast .. but to me, they seem one in the same .. can anyone help me to understand the difference between a switch cast and a single spey cast??? thanks.

I have found the T cast to be very useful when there is Noooooo room for a D loop. When water is high and brush is what your standing in this cast will get you in the game. Raise the rod,with the line out straight, to about a 45, draww a cicle counterclockwisein the air and when you stick the fly and line tip cast. You can hold the rod tip away from you and brush, trees etc. and get a good cast of 30 feet plus. I use this cast often, it can also be a good way to recover and recast your line.

hey frank, thanks .. right now i am using a video entitled "spey to z" in addition to the help from my friends who have been fishing spey in maine and canada for a long time .. they gave me the video .. and it has been really great, i like the way these guys teach on the dvd .. it focuses mostly on west coast steelhead applications ... but all of which certainly apply to our big river systems and ocean here in maine ... and, of course, great lakes steelhead ..

anyway .. i will research the video you speak of .. if anyone out there is interested in researching the "spey to z" video .. here is the google search string ... you will see that there are some sample clips and tons of reviews on this video ... killer stuff ... i bring the dvd on my laptop to the river down the street from my house .. and use it as a reference before or during a practice session ... sometimes it all makes sense on the dvd .. but i get on the water and i'm like ..."what the heck did they say?" so, i just bring the laptop and dvd with me ... ok .. thanks.

How about the Skagit cast? I am looking to learn that style of casting before the winter.
