hey .. i put this in a response to gunner .. and then thought it was hilarious in and of itself .. mostly becuase its absolutely true ... but the one liners are so indiciative of how fly fishing is viewed amongst my core group of fly fishing buddies .... if anyone else out there has similar examples of one liners to hear that support this philosophy .. feel free to add ...

i am not saying this is the philosphy for everyone out there ..just for me and for my core group of fly fishing buddies ... and, i gotta be honest .. these one liners and this type of no-fluff .. straight forward ... no bs .. tell it how it is one liners and relationship dynamics are FUN for me ... and to be honest there are so many obligations and places to be and all that stuff in everything that is NOT fishing relating .. so when it comes to fishing, for me anyway, it is critical that it be a "WHATEVER, DUDE" envronment with very little if any obigations and restricitions .. because FLY FISHING IS my outlet from all those things that tie me down ... ... i guess it goes along with that bumper sticker that i often see that reads ... "SHUT UP AND FISH" ... here are a few common ones i can think of off hand .. i know some of you have to have some others ... if not .. "whatever dude."

-------------------------------------------

question: "hey, wanna go steelheading with us?"
anwer: "i can't"
(NO NEED TO ELABORATE .. AND FRANKLY NOBODY CARES WHY YOU CAN'T ... KIDS, WORK, MONEY PROBLEMS, CAR IS BUSTED)

question: "hey, what does so and so do for work?"
anwer: "who cares"

question: "oh, we forgot to call so and so. should we call him?"
anwer: "wasn't meant to be"

question: "hey how come you never return my voice mails"
anwer: "whatever dude"

question: "dude i invited so and so to come steelheading
anwer: "WHAT! dude, you know that 4 people is TOO many"

question: "my wife/girlfriend is ..."
anwer: "stop there dude, not interested"

question: "hey in next fall do you want to ..."
anwer: "stop there dude, i hate plans"

question: "hey, i can only fish until ...because ..."
anwer: "i'm bringing my own car . and i don't care about what else you gotta do, so don't bother telling me"

question: "oh man since i've had kids, bought a house, puting an extension on the house etc... .. i can't fish .. i got no time..etc.."
anwer: "sucks for you dude"

question: "hey wanna go fishin and then meet our wives at about 5pm
anwer: "are you crazy man, that's just when things will be getting good .. NO WAY! .."

question: "dude, you never showed up when you were supposed to..."
answer: "whatever dude"

question:"dude, i'm a guide"
answer: who cares

question:"dude, are you ready to go yet,.. we've been fly fishing since sun up"
answer: no

question:"dude, i'm starving/cold/tired/frustrated"
answer: me too .. quit your whining"
