WOW!!!! i want one of those ... i know that will slay the stripers .. you and i will put it to use this spring ... but i'd really like to fish it at NIGHT on the ledges ... that thing is KILLER .. nice work!!!
ps... the reason "your" picture did not come us is because the link was not a true link to an image ... it was a link to a script that was showing the image .. so, in the future just upload your pics to a spot that give you a true image link ... ex (http://www.photobucket.com /mypictureofmykillerlobsterfly.jpg)
notice the .jpg extension .. pps .. photobucket.com is a free image hosting environement that gives you true links ... try that ...

Rich Murphy created that fly. He's a guide in Mass. and an absolute awesome fly tier. His talents are in the realm of Skok, Popovics, et al. I am on a kick this winter tying up some of his stuff.
I learned it a couple years back at an Eldrege Bros. tying class. At that time the pattern was altered a bit to include the EC 413 Jig hook size 5/0 and a glass rattle was added. Yes the frigging thing even clicks like the real mccoy.
The position it represents is two fold. Its called a defensive posture when is lands upon the bottom, if it even gets there, claws up ready to fight. When falling through the water column the claws will be trailing above just like the real thing when thrown overbaord or washed from a craggly rock by a receeding wave.
You are spot on about the time and places to fish it at. You know any lobstermen we can follow aroung in the Whaler?

Although this may be a killer Striper fly, I wonder if it has been tried for freshwater fish. It seems like a great crayfish imitation as well. I'm not clear on the size but it certainly seems like the size of a crayfish as well. Very cool pattern!
