|
|
i used to use weather.com .. but found it to be kind of a pain.. i recently switched to "weather underground" .... love it ... i type in a city, state .. and get an easy to understand presentation of weather data with all the critical info i need for fishing (wind and temps) in an hour by hour format ... i know i could probably dive further into weather.com and get the same data ... but something about weahter underground is more appealing to me ... easy, fast and simple .. i like it ... just wondering what other fly fisherman rely on ...
ps -- you can google "weather" and its the 4 result ... or www.wunderground.com/ |

I can just use the weather facility in my browser (optonline.net); but, I also can get information from some buoys out in Long Island Sound via
http://www.mysound.uconn.edu/exrx_wx.html
These do no prediction, besides the barometer, but tell me about the present state (temp, wind speed, direction, barometer, humidity; within 15 minutes). Are there any similar sources elsewhere? |

| The Weather Underground site is a very useful tool in trying to fiqure out the weather for the long term. I use the site to get an idea about the wind that could or could not be blowing down one of the valleys here in Montana. I have also been using a couple of Web Cams that are privately owned but are broadcast for the public to use. One of them is very useful in helping to determine if the Yellowstone River has some dirty water comming downstream from the Park. It has been the most useful source of determining where I may want to fish for the day, especially after it rains. I have also found two other camera/weather stations through the Weather Bug site. These private weather stations have a camera, anamometer and thermometer. I am greatful to have the option of checking current windspeed, air temp and getting a photo of the area. I wish there were more of these stations on other waters that I fish in the area. |

| I have been using wunderground as long as I can remember. It's been very accurate for me, at least as accurate as possible for the unprictable state that is alaska! Also i find the layout of the site much simpler than weather.com |
