Hi all,
I am meeting with a group of folks (about 30) in Dresden this June and would like to introduce them to fly fishing. Dresden is on the Elbe River which has supposedly made a comeback from the severe polluted state of years past.
Has anyone fished the Elbe before? Do you know of any fly fishing guides, instructors, fly fishing/tackle shops in the area? I am open to creative thinking around this. I have searched the web and can't find much other than occassional references to the Elbe.
I plan on supplying these guys rods, reels, lines, flies. I saw one post that suggested that there are tricos hatches on the Elbe. Not sure where on the Elbe though...
So, any suggestion is helpful and appreciated. I meet with these guys every six months. I meet them in Reno next November. Probably not a good time take them fishing.
I assume that the Elbe at Dresden is not exactly a flyfishing destination although I suspect you can fish there for fish like perch, chub, asp and zander.
The mountains further south and rivers like the Zschopau and Floha are locations I have have red about.
Living on the Dutch/German border the Dresden area is not a destination for us that makes our harts beat faster.
The mountains further south and the Czech republic and parts of southern Poland are then more promising.
Will send you a pm with some adresses for your research
