frnch,

No, I haven't cast the Winston Ascent rods yet, but I may have a chance to do so. I am part time at my local fly shop here in Naples ww.mangroveoutfitters.com and the owner stocks a few Winston rods. I'll look for the Ascent and if one's there I'll take it out back and get back to you. If you look up my posts here you'll see who I am.

I was wondering what your target species for this stick might be....? Very Happy

In my humble opinion, you may not "need" another rod....but rather, another line. What's the quest? Feel?, Castability?, Distance?, Accuracy?

Very Happy

Not much a fan of those rods. For a price point I would look either the Scott A2 or Sage VT2 - both in probably a 7 weight to compliment the 9.

At that price point I would look at the Scott A2 and Sage FLI. Both are great companies and have strong warranties.
