I started this morning with our whole Dutch club for the last session of our annual pike cup.
We started out with 15 guys and landed a total of 4 pike.
I had my first pike of the season, a monster of 40 / 45 cm Smile
Catching the fish was great, the big downturn of the day was that over a hundred or more mountainbikers ploughed the opposite bank to shreds.

Piece and quit before the hordes of mountainbikers came along.

The result of the only bite in the morning, my first pike of 2007.

So we fished a canalized stream with hordes of mountainbikers in the morning.
It was too much for us so we had to go to neighboring Germany to see how things were looking overthere.
Luckily they shoot mountainbikers on sight in Germany so we had the river all to ourselves Very Happy

Joop probing the opposite bank.

The river still is dead around this time of year although yellow perch might be active.
We joined a another German fishing club this year to expand our array of streams to fish so we still have to find out how and when to fish there.
During this time of year catching fish is very unlikely but walking along the stream gives us a pretty good impression where we have to go once season starts in ernest.
