| So, I heard through the grapevine that dave teper (aka Headrush999) is heading to the French West Indies (Guadeloupe) to fish with Alexismt555 for Bonefish, Permit, Tarpon, Snook and other stuff ... I must say doesn't surprise me really ... knowing that dave spends most of his time chasing bonefish in the bahamas and tarpon fishing and snook fly fishing in his home waters of naples florida (the everglades) ... ... and i had a feeling when he heard that alexis was the only guide on "guadeloupe" and the only flats boat for 100's of miles ... that he would think .. "hmm.. my kinda place." .... so, is it true??? are you going dave ? word on the streat is that your going monday! ... let us know ... and keep us informed with some posts at night of how things are going .... and let us all get a taste of guadeloupe through the lens of your video and still camera ...! ... good luck! safe journeys! will be eagerly waiting to hear how things are going! |

| It is true Jeremy, I couldn't resist, saw a good window of weather, and booked a ticket yesterday. It sounds like a really special place, although I believe I have no idea what I'm getting myself into. Heck, I don't even speak a bit of French, but I'll try to manage my way through it with my fly rod. I put up a post on fliesandfinssouth.com and will chronicle the journey daily, or whenever time allows, from a travel and technical perspective. Check it out! |

Hi,
I´m also going to Guadeloupe for some serious bonefishing .
Normally I fish for trout in freshwater and I understand that flyfishing for bonefish is a bit different.
Can some of you guys help me with the following:
What fly patterns work? Bright colours?
What kind of species am I likely to catch?
What kind of tippet and tippet diametre is recommended?
And finally, are there any regulations for fishing in Guadeloupe? |

Christian,
For answers......I guess you should shoot a PM to alexismt555.........?
He's the Man!
Our Guadoslam-connection....He's the "Miester of Slam!" The Slamster! And, it sound to me like hedrush999 has had a terrific time there at reasonable cost. He told me over the phone that alexis and his wife are terrific people and his stay was super.
If I could go there today...I would get on the plane! |
