This summer in the midwest is forcasted to be the return of the 17 year Cicada infestation. The old saying is "Match the Hatch" is there any hope of taking advantage of this phenomenon. I saw a youtube.com video of a guy tying a cicada fly for carp, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any good spots to fish these carp in the illinois area. Also, does anyone know any good carp patterns or Cicada patterns targetting anyfish. The one I saw and tied is just a big wooly bugger with heavy lead wrapped under the chenille and no tail. Does anyone have any other ideas... I'm going to mess around with it more, maybe adding some little legs. Any thoughts...? Read that to start. ...Please let me know how it goes and what happens. That could be what brings "my" 40 and 50 lb Lake Erie carp to hand. Never Know! I will definitely dig through my Fly Fishermans I have no idea what will happen but I have seen the monster carp in the harbors of Lake Michigan and If i can manage to hook up with some of those bears i will definitely give you a shout.
