On May 14, 2005 The Ausable River in Lake Placid will host the two fly competition. Registration is open to the public. I will be there for sure. Just wanted to encourage anyone who is interested to sign up. It's a great opportunity to rub elbows with some of the finest fly anglers from around the country, catch some monster wild Browns in a killer setting and the chance to win a custom wrapped rod. The link to the event is listed below (I hope this is okay Jeremy). There is also an online Registration form. Just click on Two fly competition.

i hear ya - it seems to be only spreading amongst fly fisherman. a very unique strain of the flu - it affects no other people - not even spin fisherman! weird really |

Concentrated on the homewaters on Sat. beautiful weather, we fished three different streams and had limited success on them all. Fresh fish were present everywhere just not in great numbers. Water temps are a little low yet for the run to be in full swing, allthough some of these fish are on the dropback as you can see.
Fished the Salmon yesterday to no avail. Flows were a little swift still for the bank angler. Water levels are receding and with no rain in the forecast this week, the river should be in prime condition for this weekend.
I do feel the sniffles coming on myself. I'll see if i can get out with ya early next week. Sunday is a sure bet. I'll be in touch.

Methinks that Whippa' has a knack for understatement "limited success" my a$$.
As for the hippers, on many of our local streams, ie. the finger lakes tributaries, that's all you really need. Some of these little creeks you can spit across. |
