Can anyone recommend a steelhead guide in the OH/PA area? Someone had suggested Dfishinfool Guide Service. Anyone know anything about them?

This will be my first trip to fish for steelhead, and I'm looking for a 8-hour wading guide for me and a buddy.

Thanks in advance,
MD

I live in Erie, PA and although I have never been on a guided trip I can tell you I have heard some bad things about Dfishingfool. I will ask around for you to see who may be a good guide. But there's no point getting anything less than great from a steelhead guide when you're paying the same as you would a guided day in Montana or Floride. You know?

If you're interested I could help you out with some really good info to get you going and possibly even spend some time on the water with you. I'm young but I've been steelhead fishing locally for a few years now and could be of some help to you.

Let me know what I can do to help and I'll ask around about guides if thats what you're into.

Mike

Mike,

If you don't mind asking around, I'd appreciate it. I got a buddy from Alabama coming up and he definitely wants a guide. Thanks!

Ok. I would recommend Tom Eakin of Wet Water Guide Services. He's a good guy and can surely catch the fish, not only that he is a great teacher and will give you information that you can use all of your life. I have also been told that Jim Jankovic/Steehlead Guide is a great guide.

Tom can be reached at wetwaterguide@hotmail.com
814-382-5413

Jim at Jimjank@comcast.net
724-622-8426

Both offer fly and spin fishing.

If you don't like that theres always the local fly shop guide Steven Brugger with Lake Erie Ultimate Angler. If thats your thing, direct an e-mail to him at portaledge@aol.com

When do you plan on coming?

Steelie,

Thanks for the tips. We're planning on coming up at the end up October or sometime in November.

Speaking of which, someone told me that the leaves fall the last week of October and it's hard to fish then. Any thought on the subject?

Thanks again!
MD

That's a great time to fish for steelhead, yeah the leaves will be there but it's not that much to deal with. Every few cast clear off your fly and or line but when you hook into the fish it will all be worth it.

If I were to hire a guide for PA / OH, I would go with John Nagy.
