hey .. just wanted to give a shout out to anyone on this site from maine (my home state), as it would be cool to see you at the next tu meeting ... i have been helping my good friend greg bostater (boz) put together a really cool presentation for a presentation he is doing for Trout Unlimited here in Maine (this tuesday, at governer's in south portland) ... i am helping boz to put together the presentation and covey his points/topics with some nice media (photos/video) that i have acquired through the many years of shooting fly fishing content in maine and other areas of the world ..... ultimately, the presentation by boz is about "from trout to tuna" and it's gonna be fun and casual with real examples of tactics and techniques to consider when fly fishing for trout, steelehead, tuna etc... the topics will be such things as this ...

On water mends: Achieve Better Line Control
Distance Casting: Reach More Fish
Shoot & Haul Line: Cast Less, Catch More

etc...

As you can see .. this is going to be casual and fun and just some tips and techniques to employ for all types of fish and fishing situations to possibly better you skills or at least give all of us some things to work on. i learned a ton, just by helping boz put it together .. and thought about things that i really hadn't considered before ... so, it's gonna be really cool .. and definately of "boz" style .. just laid back and casual and fun.... and some examples of the techniques through the use of related video/photo content ...

anyway ... i'll be there listening to boz and cheering him on and heckling a little bit if the opportunity arises ...

here is the tu link where you can find more details of where, when, what it's about and the exact time .. so, if your in maine ... see you there .. if you're not, we will be posting some video from the presentation and the interactive presentation on fliesandfins.com sometime after tuesday night ......

Boz .. did i leave anything out???

Thanks Jeremy

Hoping for a good turnout for this event, despite the looming Holiday craziness...

This presentation is designed to be informative (yet fun) and insightful. I think everyone will walk away with some valuable new "tools" in their bag. I've learned alot just putting it together...

It'd be great to meet some new folks from this network, as well as others.

Looking forward to it.

Heckling is to be expected from some in the crowd...

See you there...

boz .. excellent job tonight! ... austin and i really had a great time watching you present your presentation to the tu sebago chapter. i was very impressed with your ability to explain things in a very simple and captivating way .. and to talk to the audience and not at the audience .. i was amazed to see how you were able to take gigs and gigs and gigs of content and utilize it for instruction purposes in regards to covering some of the many topics that you covered such as double haul, mending line, two handed stripping etc .... it became very clear when watching you up there, that you were in your element .. it is no wonder why LLBean hires you here in maine to teach many of their fly fishing courses in all different locations around the state .... i can't say it enough, i was so impressed with your presenting ability, your cool/calm/collective on stage presence and the way you professionally cut up all of the fliesandfins.com content and used it as the primary presentation tool to serve your specific demonstration needs for this situation ... awesome job! you should be very proud of yourself, as i was definately proud to be one of your friends in the audience ..... and to think, all these years i thought to myself, "what a bunch of nonsense, boz doesn't know what he's talking about." ... you do know what you are talking about when it comes to understanding people and talking about concepts that not everyone understands and being able to make learning and sharing fun by positioning yourself as not a "know it all" rather than just another guy who loves to fly fish and loves to keep learning himself .... anyway ... once again, very well done! ... A+

Man I wish I could have been there for that. I've fished with Boz 4 times now. And each time I've learned something new and valuable. From mending techniques, casting big heavy 2 nymph rigs to the downstream dry fly drift. I've perfected none of them yet but definitely see myself working on them plenty during my upcoming outings. Everything Boz has showed me I see as extremely useful to every fly fisherman. Definitely looking forward to 2008 and a few more trips with Boz in the great north woods of Maine.

Thanks for the kind words from you both.

Presentations aren't my forte, but when the topic is fly fishing related it would be hard for me to not be enthusiastic. It is what I love to do.
I look back at this summer and how much I've learned about our sport. and this seems to keep the fire stoked through the upcoming frozen months.

Its been a killer year for me on the water in many aspects, and alot of what I've learned came about through FliesandFins. I didn't spend alot of days fishing the salt this year but the few days I did spend with Jeremy and Austin and chasing albies/stripers/blues taught me valuable lessons, and I feel better equiped in many situations with that knowledge. Some of those insights I tried to roll into last nights presentation, hopefully effectively.

There is alot of knowledge in these pages and I think FliesandFins is and amazing resource that we all teach through as well as learn from.

I guide/teach casting professionally, and hope I never stop asking questions as well as answering them.

Thanks again to those who took the time to come to Governors last night!

I look forward to seeing many of you on the water...

Glad to hear the presentation was such a success! Wish I could have been there. Hopefully I will get to live the dream again this summer and lay the smack down on some WB LL's. Way to go Boz....Keep up the good work, you are a fly fishing ambassador!
