Okay- I sucked it up and will be going to Long Island for bones in March with my two best fishing buddies. Problem- I've never done this before and, while I have a list of items from the more seasoned of my two friends, I'd be interested in suggestions for things I would not otherwise anticipate. I've got the flies, rods/reels, lines, it's dealing with flats wading and sun (and any bonefish related tips) that I'm particularly interested in. We have a guide and access to boat(s). I suppose that means bring some sinking lines and inshore flies. Any advice is appreciated.

I have a great tip that I learned while sightfishing and wading the flats here in the Northeast. It has held up to be one of the best tips I have ever had for wade fishing for any species. It sounds stupid, but even till this day I find myself not doing it and thinking to myself "Jeremy, you are such a moron" .. Always, if possible, have your back to the sun. It sounds simple probably while reading this on the internet, but you would be amazed how many times I have found myself prowling a flat for 20 minutes not realizing that the sun is INFRONT of me. Sure, I have polarized glasses and I can see well, but then I turn around .. and WOW! It's like a whole new world and the sun is working in my favor, rather than against me. So, my one tip to you ... actually two tips would be.

1. Definately have GOOD polarized sunglasses
2. Definately always have the sun at your back

Good luck. Take some pics and write up a fishtale when you get back, Let us know how you do.
