If anyone is going to be in VT this spring let me know. I think all of the posts that have anything to do with VT have been about the battenkill river, and there is a lot more fisheries here in VT, and in my opinion much better. It is a river that has a deep history in fly fishing and orvis, but there are many other places that even locals don't know about. So... if you are in the area or thinking you might be in the future let me know, one of my favorite things is going for a grandslam and not just trout. I am lucky enough to be in a place where I can catch brook, brown, and rainbow trout, smallmouth and largemouth bass, pike, and carp all in the same day! If you are interested, hit me up.

Hey PSC, I just moved up to Vermont a few months ago and fished it pretty hard until the season closed. All trout though, and I am really interested in catching pike on the fly and also catching some bass again(moved up from VA). Let me know if you want to go fishing sometime.

Jeremy, if you are in the area fishing the Battenkill let me know. I am always interested in learning how other people fish and learn / share techniques.

Its good to hear that you fished while you could, actually a little north of you is rutland, and otter creek is open year round for catch and release north of the dam in rutland. Right know you can catch some nice browns below a few of the falls and tailwaters of the many dams. Speaking of otter creek, up towards me (middlebury area) there is wicked fishing in it for rainbows, browns, smallmouth bass, pike and even muskie in one stretch. Also in the summer I usually kayak or float tube a few ponds around me and lake champlain for largemouth and pike, I am home from school any weekend that i dont have a rugby game, and I fish every day that I am home, anytime you wanna go fishing let me know... around mothers day I could put you on some epic smallmouth fishing... keep that in mind!

Well I was working as an instructor with the Orvis school and also guiding through the store, so I was on the water plenty from mid-July to the end. Great streamer fishing the last few days of the season on the Battenkill. My biggest brown was over 16" and I also had a 15" brookie. One of my buddies and another instructor caught a beautiful male brownie that was 23". I am looking forward to fishing these next few prime months though, need to get that 20"+ fish this season. I definitely need to head up your way, I have heard some good things.
