| It's funny you should post because I just returned from a trip to Asheville this past weekend. The two most obvious places to go are number one, the Davidson River and number two the North Mills River. The Davidson is year round fly fish and catch and release only. The North Mills is delayed harvest. You can't go wrong with either of these streams as long as you know where to go. Shoot me a pm for specifics. The Davidson is nationally renound for big trout but man, they are hard to catch. In my opinion, during the summer it is the hardest river in the state. I fished it for two days and there are more fish than you can imagine but they are picky. The worst part is that the stream is so crowded in spots it feels like hillbilly Disney World. As I mentioned, I can tell you where to go to catch plenty of fish. Just be super stealthy and use midge patterns in a size 20-22. You won't find fish in the popular sections of the North Mills right now but I can put you on them. Just send me a pm if interested. If you like small native trout, i'd be willing to discuss some places for that as well. |
