The Werre River that I know runs through the city of Herford, Germany, this river that forms into a canal when it winds through the city seemed very small and you could wade in it, the species were Graylings, according to my local fishing buddy Bastian, majority of the fish caught here are Graylings, it seems like a good Trout streams as well. and couldn't figure out why theres no trout or the mention of trout species in the river, so I went with his words, but in the back of my mind had my favorite trout fly ready.

Bastian, a Graduate of a German Fly fishing school that I'm trying to endorse for my Organization, took me out for the day and was very enthustiastic about the river. we took some time to find a common language due to the fact that he couldn't speak english and my german was not that great, but manage to find it in our common ground in Fly Fisihng.
The river was very calm and form into a canal as it winds through the city, took a hit on my fly but no hook up.
After we move closer into the city, we started to get hits and hook ups, sure enough, all the fish I caught were Graylings, needless to say I will listen to the locals more often then I should. all in all I had a wonderful time in the town of Herford and for 6 Euros for a daily permit about 9 U.S Dollars doesn't seem bad at all, compare to other fisihng areas. and thanks to Bastian, It seems like I will be coming here more often for Graylings. |
