This vest by Filson I have used mostly on trips to areas that the weather can change long before you can get back to your vehicle. It has adjustable straps for fitting over jacket, sweater, heavy shirt or rain gear. The pack and pockets, one on each side, are made of 100% cotton treated with oil to keep out the rain. The pack and side pocket have nickel plated weep holes for any condensation that might build up. The pack has double brass zippers to carry sandwiches, rain gear, thermos, etc. There is a small pocket on the packs rear surface for those small extras you want handy. Each side pocket will carry 1 - 2 large fly boxes and all the leader and tippet you may need in the smaller pockets inside the 2 large pockets. Each large pocket has two smaller external pockets with flaps with nickel snaps. The large fly box pockets also has double brass zippers to avoid corrosion. The vest pockets snap together in front to keep them out of the way for casting and keeps your flies and tippet directly in front of you. I have used this vest/ pack for about four years and found it useful and comfortable in all climates, over a T - shirt or a heavy shirt or rain gear. I have never lost anything out of it, never had anything ruined by water damage and always been comfortable wearing it. Does anyone else use this Filson Vest or other other models of Filson Vests? If so, what are your thoughts?
I've had other gear made by Filson and their stuff is really stitched tight and made with quality materials and construction. I'll take a look at the vest. What's the model #, where'd you purchase it? Thanks,
Marsh

They have some great stuff, I also have what they call a Tin Coat as it is stiff but is 100% cotton and basically rain gear. As to the Vest, it was bought for me I believe on line from the filson site. The materials are excellent and double stitched. I especially like vest or coat, zippers are brass and snaps are nickel to avoid corrosion.
