Hey everybody, I am in the market for some new wading boots. I'm tight on cash so I would like to get the best performing wading boot for the money as possible. On the water, it seems like I see more Simms brand boots than any other brand. I have only had experience with LL.Beans boots, but the pair I currently own are beat up from many many days on the water. I would also only like to purchase a boot with studs. I have never found a reason not to wear studs on the waters I fish. The rocks are often times slippery and algae covered, and studs have saved my a$$ many times while wading in fast currents.
So, with that said, I narrowed the selection of simms wading boots down to 2, The L2 boot, and the Freestone boot. Does anybody have any experience with these boots, if so I would really like to hear them. Thanks.....

Austin-

I am on my second pair of simms boots and think they are pretty nice. I had the older pair of aquastealths for about a year and a half and the leather on them just started to shink and made the boot uncomfortable. So I was in the same spot your were about 5 months ago and decided on the new rivershed aqua stealths w/studs. so far so good. Very comfortable but I do think that the studs could be just a touch longer. I also chose to go with the rubber sole so the snow doesn't get stuck on the bottom in the winter. Check 'em I think you'll like them.

I highly recommend the L2 due to the weight of them being much lighter, which i think plays a critical part in footwear, also the freestones are good, but if the mold is incorrect then sometimes with the fabric they use which is synthetic is not comfortable over the long haul due to size changes. For example one foot can be a little smaller than the other creating unnecessary pain.. The fabrics such as leather and heavy weighted mesh can give more flex to the foot which accomodates the neoprene in your waders... cheers my friend, Alex
