Another holiday/chrismas season is here again. With the current economic outlook looking grim, alot of folks are seriously limiting spending. With that in mind my wife and I have agreed to spend under $50 on gifts for each other this year. Realizing that the only "non neccessity" items I spend much money on are in some way, shape, or form, related to fly fishing. Most gifts ideas I've come up with...for the flyfisherman for under $50 would fall under these two generic catagories:

1. Fly Fishing Books
2. Gear or gadgets

Which leads to my question for the FliesandFins community: If you could only spend $50...what would be a useful, creative gift to give a flyfisherman? Suggestions appreciated. One example... I recently tied a dozen killer flies for my father for Christmas, put them in a fly box...total cost under 25 bucks. Thanks, and Happy Holidays!

Good post boz. I included some stuff that applies to what i would like for that price range and that I would be psyched to get (as opposed to the token raindeer type sweater from macy's or the token turtleneck that doesn't fit) .. I will just send this post to family members who i exchange gives with .. for simplicity sake, and because i know that all of these choices are sold online (where many people shop these days) .. and orvis.com is a secure e-commerce environment for processing credit cards .. and easy for people to use .. i just chose stuff from orvis.com ... i am sure others will have ideas too from other places .. so, i just kept it simple .. anyway, if you are one of my family members looking at this, anyone of these things would do Very Happy .. or, if any other fly fisherman post ideas on this post, you could "surprise" me and get what they recommend .. as I am sure that what anyone else on this site would like for under 50 bucks I would like too ...

Fishpond insulated thermos for $39. I've got one and love it. A "vest stuffer" is always nice as well. Just an assortment of leaders, tippet, weights, dessicant, and indicators. Not exciting but it is something EVERYONE could use

Clothing is a little general but the new quick drying shirts and pants are great for sumer fly fishing and people who live in the south. They give you great protection from the sun and keep you cool on hot days. You can find quick drying shirts and pants cheaper than $50.00 too.
