CORRECTION : i am going to seneca lake in geneva new york.
can anybody point me in the right direction to flyfish there?i have to go out there for a wedding on march 21st.i am going to spend an extra day there to get in some flyfishing.i would like to go for steelhead and trout in some rivers off of seneca lake.i also would be interested in getting a guide.my girlfriend is going with me and she loves to fish.she has never tried flyfishing before but i am going to teach her how to cast before we go.so the guide would have to be patient with her.she's not a moron though and picks up things very easy.she will probably catch more fish than me that day lol!can anybody help me on what patterns to tye and where to go please.your help is greatly appreciated.i have never caught a steelhead and would love to catch one while i am there.i do alot of flyfishing in ri,ma,nh and me.i usually go for trout and salmon.the stocking program is great in ma and we get some pretty big fish out here but nothing like a steelhead lol!well thanks for reading my posting and i hope you all have a great year! |

| No worries ,.. I don't know about Seneca Lake per se - but i do think that any of those tribs off that lake will be closed until april 1 ... keep in mind though .. that you are still within a stones throw distance from what lots of good ontario tribs such as salmon river and a few of the other "sensitive" tribs that i would rather not mention public forum ... i have an email to dave severson .. maybe he can shed some light on the specifics, not of exact locations, but as to if infact senaca stuff is closed and ... if you are infact close to some of the tribs on the western side of lake ontario that dave often fishes .. standby. |

Hey flyguy,
Everything Jeremy wrote in this thread is still pertinent.
http://www.fliesandfins.com/postt1397
Most Finger Lakes tribs are closed until 4/1, however, there are a ton of options for that time of year a short distance from where you will be. send me a pm if you have questions or are interested in a day trip for steelhead.
