Rio overhauled all of their bonefish taper fly lines this season (in addition to many other fly lines). They changed the taper on the line to allow the fly line to load the road at close distance and included a long rear taper to accomplish longer casts as well. I was really excited to try these out and picked up a few to use on a trip to the Bahamas a few weeks ago and was very impressed. I had fished the older version of this line and felt like the core was way too stiff. The newer line still has a stiff core as that is necessary in very hot conditions, but it was slightly more supple which made line handling a lot easier. The line also accomplished those very short casts extremely well and loaded the rod perfectly. The new fly line also has a two tone color scheme so that you can see where the taper ends in order to know how much line you have out which makes loading the rod easier. Has anyone else out there fished the new Rio Bonefish line? What other bonefish fly lines are you guys fishing, why or why don't you like them?
