|
| Me and my buddy are coming to Maine in July to fish Moosehead lake. I didn't find that much info on internet. We will have a bass boat. How is small mouth bass fishing during that time and can you catch pike in that particular lake? I would love to try some fly fishing in this area any info will be greatly appreciated. |

Mike,
For smallmouth fishing out of a bass boat check out Lily Bay on Moosehead Lake, you can launch a boat at Lily Bay State park and fish and camp right there. Another good smallmouth fishery nearby is Indian Pond west of Moosehead, there are alot of shallow stump fields that are full of bass, and eat boat props so take it easy.
No Pike in Moosehead.
If you are looking for river fly fishing Moosehead has some of the best waters in the state. Check out the Roach River, East Outlet of the Kennebec and also the Moose River. They all have Landlocked Salmon and Brook trout. Each body of water in Maine has it's own regulations so make sure to read the laws for each water body before fishing.
Here is a link to open water fishing regualtions online, they are listed by county:

Hope this helps. |

| I'll second Indian pond. The road in's generally decent, and the fishing is nothing short of fantastic. When you get into Greenville, stop in and chat with Dan at the fly shop right in town. |

| There are a lot of small mouth Bass in the section of the Kennebec starting at Shawmut dam in Fairfield and just a ways down the road i Waterville there is a park where you can catch some stripers in the Summer. Small mouth Bass are often caught in this section of the river and both of the above places are easy parking and access. There is a fly shop between them, in Fairfeld, that can give you the scoop on both areas and their potential. This shop is called " Fly Fishing Only" you can google this. Owned by Mike Holt. Plenty of gear, fies and info there. |

| I was up there a few years back and lake and river fishing was great. I was a little east of Moosehead. I would bet you will have similar results. Post an update when you get back. |
