Just wanted to say hi! I fish the lower cape all year and really can't wait for mid April when the salt starts up again for me! I do a lot of fly fishing for bass and blues so just wanted to see if anyone else on here was from the area.

Well, sort of. Winter in Up-sate NY but have camp in Mashpee and fish from late April til Oct. Renovations at camp will extend the liveability (better for what it is costing) so fishing will start earlier and extend longer.
Fish mostly upper cape and intend on using kayak more this year.

I think I'm going to try for my first striper this weekend. I know it's early and I don't have the boat in yet but hopefully the holdovers are getting active and some new fish might be beginning to show. Anybody else going to give it a shot?

I'm in Worcester, Cape is 1 hour away. Waiting to fish it more extensively this coming May though!!

Stripers should be coming in soon. South Cape, and Canal are expecting to see fish around last weekend of April to first weekend of May.

Then we got some blues coming in... I am personally hoping for a better showing of albies off the jetties.

Ya - I hear that - More Albies would be sweet. Funny, how every year - ya never know what the "hard tail" scene will be like and who/where will have the best concentration of fish. 4 years ago, I witnessed epic albie fly fishing on the vineyard - 3 years ago, on the vineyard, the albie fishing STUNK - 2 years ago, Rhode Island was absolutely incredible for albie fishing and the fish just seemed to stay there from the time they showed up, until the end of the run - last year the albie fishing seemed to be spotty everywhere, i had some epic days - followed by terrible days. last year, for me anyway, montauk was the big producer of albies.

I have a question for you Cape Cod guys - I don't and haven't fished there much - other than having lived on nantucket for a summer and fishing the marthas vineyard tournament every year (although i missed it last year). Does the cape (main land) get good runs of albies and bonito? And are there places to fish them from foot? (not looking for anyone to share the spots) just a curious question. I have, more or less, been under the assumption that other than rogue instances of albies showing up off jetties and certain rock points on cape cod --- the hard tale (albie/bonito) foot fishing opportunities were pretty much a marthas vineyard game. let me know. thanks.

PS. I'll tell you what though - I am waiting for the day that Marthas Vineyard blows up with epic numbers of albies like i had witnessed 4 years ago --- it was absolutely incredible - with mega pods of albies virtually all over the island - and casting to albies in skinny water. That is one great thing about Marthas vineyard (when the albies are there in good numbers) is that the foot fishing opportunities are spectacular with so many beaches and clear water where the fish can and do show -- and, there are few things I love more than fishing to albies in clear shallow water .. don't get me wrong, i love fishin for them any way i can get them -- but to see albies come screaming at my feet with their backs out of the water and trying to trick them with flies is really something that i love to do.
