We still have time overhere (Netherlands) to fish. Even though the white stuff has been falling out of the sky yesterday I went fishing with HansF aka pikehunter or whatever he calls himself these days. Since we had a little problem with hard water during the recent days we picked out some rivers to try and catch pike. The river pike where not in the mood to bite though. I know, a petty excuse for a couple of lousy fisherman Smile

Fishing in the snow.

We tried two different rivers without any succses. We had one last option though. If everything else failed we could always visit a certain ornamental pond in the city. The deciding factor would be the presence of hard water. When we came at the pond a large part was ice free so we where in business. Hans broke out the spinning rod while I tossed a large streamer into the lake. Hans got a hit when he retrieved his lure in the middle of the pond. He missed the fish though. That's why he is called pikehunter instead of pikecatcher. To my surprise a pike followed my streamer as I retrieved it close to the shore. The pike tried to nail the fly two times, I could see it clearly and missed the fish. Kind of an tradition to me.

Tomorrow we will be visiting a tackle shop near Rotterdam. Lake Oostvoorne with the big rainbows is close so we will be fishing there after shopping. Should be an interesting venue.

It was a tough day fishing wise today. We first made a stop at the Loop tackleshop in Alblasserdam and drewled over the Loop reels and rods.
Armed with some inside tips from the locals we headed to the lake. It was a tad warmer than the last time so hopes where high. Unfortuntely the fish where not very active, no fish was to be seen. Did manage to catch one of this years stockie fish though so I did not get skunked. The big ones will have to wait for next year Smile
