hey there, couple questions about what areas in Maine you intend to look for Brook trout in? ( northern , central or southern? are you interested in " brush busting " or big rivers? There are a slew of rivers and streams that offer good trout fishing in Maine. 90% of rivers and streams in the northern 2/3 of the state have some form of native trout polutlation just remember, In most cases if the access is easy the fishing for brook trout ( unless it special regs water ) can be slow. In central MAine there are many good sized streams that hold brookies right now, but they will flee into the small feeder brooks and trickles once the water temperatures warm. in most cases the Brook trout fishing in central Maine is for small Brookies ( 5 - 10 inches for the most part) . some of the brooks I fish, a 10 inch fish is a big one!
If you do a little homework with some topo maps and google earth you'll discover there are probably more bodies of water than you can begin to list, many contain trout. some more than others, but just remember the further you go not the mountains in the north or west the more likely you are to find some solid trout streams.
I also have one friend of mine who fishes in eastern maine from a float tube in beaver ponds, bogs and flowages. all of them are a mile or more form the road , and all have excellenet brook trout fishing. Just remember none of these spots are easy.
