Hi

I'm a mexican Old Timer fly fisherman and I'm going to be in Vienna on Octuber 26, the thing is that I want to know if there is too much trouble to get a 1 fishing day maybe for Grayling in your great country.

Also I was searching in to the Czech Republic but I think that its a lot of problems for a foreigner to get a fishing day in the Czech rivers.

Here in my country is an easy job to fly fish both in fresh and saltwater, that's what I'm asking for a little help or guide so I can fish for your great fish species that we don´t have in my country.

For security and other reasons I cant bring any kind of fly fishing equipment because I have a flight scale in Atlanta, so If you be so kind to tell me if I can find gear for rent that would be nice.

Sorry for bother you guys

Thanks and greetings from Mexico

Hi Jaaf,

sorry for the late reply. I was on a 8 day fishing holiday at my favourite place, river Fuscher Ache. This time I went fishing one day also to the Braurup waters and had couple of good ones, mainly char.

Jaaf, around Vienna there are few rivers where you can fish. As for the equipment, please send me a message day or two before you go fishing and I´ll arrange for the gear. would suggest that you have a look at www.oefg1880.at which is the Austrian Fishing Association and has also rivers around Vienna. However, I am going around that time to a part of river Murz, a 2.5km private water which is a Grayling paradise. It is well known for huge graylings. I don´t go often there since the daily fishing license costs 140 USD but this time I ill. You can also call me at +43 650 702 64 68 and I can arrange any fishing for you. Just please bear in mind that you need to call me two days in advance so I can contact the associations.

Czech waters - yes, it is not so easy to get the fishing license in Czech. Actually the water license is easy to obtain but for the state license you have to go to the city hall of the area you want to fish.

Cheers

Valentin

Thanks Valentin

I really appreciated your support and information, I will love to have a fishing day with you looking for Grayling. I can´t tell you exactly which day I'm going to be in Vienna because my flight is subject to space at Atlanta in the US. But as soon I arrive to Munich I'm gonna try to call you or sent you an email.

Here you can see my fly fishing forum and a lot of photos of myself and what we fish in my country, so you can be more confident of myself, my nick is Javier AF (jaaf66) 66 is for my year of birth and my entire name is Javier Altamirano Fernández:

Hi Valentin!

Me and my husband are going to Austrian Alps for NY holidays (26.12-03.01). He is fond of spinfishing and would love to try in austria (ultralight spin). But we can find only flyfishing oportunities there.

Do you think we can find guide, river, service, whatever to make it true? Smile Could you please help us or give some advice?

ps: if spin is impossible this time in austria he would love to try flyfishing as well Smile.

Thank you in advance!

Elena.

Dear Elena,

sorry for the late reply but I have been off and with rare access to iternet fr over a month now. In case you are still in Austria and able to read the reply, just get in touch with the Braurup Hte and get a fishing card for Salzach. Three out of five sections of Salzach belonging to Braurup are open for flyfishing as well. Let me know in what region you are since there are also other rivers open, Mur, Enns, etc.
