| Has anybody used one of these rods yet? Seems like they might be a good rod for the money. I am thinking about picking one up as a backup. |

Hi there,
Wish I could offer you some advice but I have personally never casted these rods or any St. Croix fly rods for that matter ... guess I've just never had the chance. Anyway, I did notice that a couple friends on facebook did have some insight for you .. Here is what they had to say. Hope it helps.
-----------
Tyler - I Use a 9' 6wt 2pc. Great rod in my opinion. Good tip flex with a good backbone. Alot less effort casting this over my TFOs.
Jeff - Great rod for the money and good looking too! |

I have a 9' 8 wt 2 pc that I use for steelhead. I recently purchased a replacement tip for it as I broke a foot off it, (never put these under your feet ), but still managed to land a nice steelie on the remaining custom 8' rod later in the day. I'll second the opinions given here, good action, easy to cast.

| I have an an older 9'6'' 8wt 2pc St. Croix Imperial that I have used for GL Salmon for many years. It it SCII graphite and really takes a beating and doesn't complain one bit. My only gripe is I don't like the real seat. Cast one before you buy it. |

| The new imperial rods are a blend of scII and scIV graphite. I cast one the other day and loved it. I just wanted to know if anyone has done any field testing before i buy. |
