Hi Just,

The past 20+ years I have been fly fishing for pollack from Trysnes in the south to Tromsö in the north. Looking back at all the trips I'd say that for Pollack (my favourite) the Flatanger area, in Nord Trondelag is my favourite. There are some very good camping areas with holiday cottages and very good boats there. Biggest pollack in that area were in the seven kilo range.
To find the fish, we used to troll the outer reefs in the mouth of the fjord (using our fly rods and fast sinking shooting heads). This will save you a lot of time. Once located we made drifts along the reef's edge, casting. Dawn and dusk are especially good for pollack fishing with a fly rod. I have even caught them on creasies and poppers on an intermediate line.

My main outfit for this fishery has always been a nineweight and a fast sinking shooting head in the 350/400 grain area. However, for pollack I have lowered the 'graineage' to as low as a threeweight, which I have used on two trips now.

Give Flatanger a look, if you want addresses give me a buzz.
