Roofish,
Welcome aboard! I think you are not alone in the sense of "admiring from afar" and in many respects we all are constantly learning and admiring. Even though I'd love to and will try my best, there is a good chance that the only way I will every experience some of the destinations and fisheries that I see on this site, are through the stories and pictures and discussions. It would just be an almost impossible task for any one person to fish and truly understand all of the locations from florida, germany, austria, maine, washington, romania, africa to australia and beyond. So, much like you, I am always "admiring from afar" because even though I am blessed with great fly fishing in "my" neck of the woods where I live full time (Northeast USA) ... I love to travel and fly fish and experience new destinations and species and cultures. So, for me, this site does a great job of making me constantly realize that for "all" that I do know, there is infinately more that I don't know and will likely never know. So, I truly love to observe and learn from and see what other fly fisherman do around the world ... and it is pretty amazing what all of us collectively have done and continue to do ... astounding actually - and much more than any 1 person or even a small group of people could ever do in 10 life times. So, welcome aboard!
PS. Yes, Marcel does take some "absolutely beautiful" images from Germany and other locations that he travels to fish .... be sure to check out his images from Florida too. |

Jeremy--It is so ironic that you are the 1st to respond, because I myself am from "DownEast" as we say
Being born right there in Bangor (Eastern Maine General Hospital).
Spending the 1st 10 years of my life growing up in the house right behind what was then the "Portland Glass Company".
Location- Congress & Ellsworth, just up the street from Sportmans Bar & Grill, a place my Dad would take me so frequently to watch football and eat calm cakes.
Back in the 60's & 70's Portland's piers is where I learned to fish, my Dad taking me every chance he could, oh how I wish my Dad and I could do that again. He passed in Sept, 2007.
I have'nt been back to Maine since 1984, I know it's changed alot since those days growing up as a child and since my last visit in 84.
So if you ever take any pictures of your fishing adventures please Jeremy post them up for a fellow DownEasterner
1 more thing back then "Amatos" only had 2 sandwich shops-I use to love their "Italian sandwiches" |

Amato's now has shops and franchise operations all over the state! I love Amato's, great sandwiches. I live in Augusta, about 72 miles South of Bangor. I am an Avid fly fisherman and have little interest in anything else. Go to flies and fins and type "Jeremy" into the search bar and you will see some unbelievable fish, photos and videos. Then go to the archives and see years of fishing adventures. Wecome to flies and fins and send some fish stories and pictures.
Thanks
Greg |

Yeah when I found out "Amatos" was franchised I thought "Wow I hope they did'nt ruin a great sandwich"
Same thing happened to L.L. Bean
Also when I clicked on Marcels name and went to "see all posts" there are 9 pages however I'm only able to access 1, can anyone help with that I would love to be able to see all his posts.
I've been to Augusta many times a s a kid |

Hi Roofish,
On the top left of the site you will see a "search bar" ... type anything you want in there (germany, maine, brook trout, tarpon ... etc..)
That should give ya some good stuff to look at for a couple days or so
Have fun! Glad you enjoy the site as much as we all do! |
