Hi, Welcome to the site. There are a couple other guys from Austrailia on here ... Austalia is also my "dream trip" and has been for a very long time. I'd like to experience some of the freshwater options in Australia - but the saltwater is really where my heart would be. One of the things that amazes me about Australia (from the little I know) is the seemingly endless amounts of life and variety of species that are, for the most part, not found anywhere else in the world. And, for a guy who LOVES fly fishing for TUNA species - I have some sort of gut feeling that Australia is the meca for Tuna species with species like the dog tooth tuna and so many others in what seems to be very healthy numbers. I'd also like to try my luck at catching a Barramundi if and when my dream trip ever comes true.
Again, welcome to Fliesandfins.com. Glad to have ya on board. |

| Oh, man I am so jealous sounds like a "dream come true" for me. If you do get some pics be sure to submit a "fish tale" for the home page of the site. Meant to ask you what the heck is a "Yellow tail King fish?" - See this is why I love the thought of Australlia Salt, just so many species that would all be brand new to me. I like fishing for species of fish that I have never caught before and really like fishing for species of fish that I have never even seen before. |

There a Pelagic and i think their related to Samson fish and Rainbow runners.
Their a very dirty fighter and love to destroy fly lines on reefs or any other structure that is near by. In my local waters theirs plenty of fish in the 60 to 80 cm mark. Once their over 80cm i find them unstopable on an 8 weight and any bigger then a meter your starting to strugle with a 12 weight.
But they are a great fly rod target. |

| Welcome to the site! Like Jeremy, I would love to get down to Australia to fly fish the salt. It sounds spectacular with a myriad of different options and beautiful scenery. Some day I will have to get down there! Look forward to hearing about it from you! |
